The Friends of the Oregon Symphony in Salem will hold their season Prelude on Friday, September 23 from 6pm-8pm at Guentner's Gardens, 5780 Commercial St SE in Salem. In addition to hors d'oueveres and other refreshments (wine is $5) provided by Friends of the Oregon Symphony in Salem, the evening will feature music from the Evergreen Band, formerly known as the Molly Bloom Band and a preview of the upcoming symphony season in Salem by Willamette University Music Department Chair, Anita King.
The Friends of the Oregon Symphony in Salem are a group of symphony patrons who support the education programs of the Oregon Symphony in Salem and sponsor up close and personal “Musicale Teas” with Oregon Symphony musicians. This year they will host 3 musicians from the Oregon Symphony in various homes around Salem as well as the Hallie Ford Museum and Roger Yost Gallery. They will also host musicales by a finalist from the Oregon Symphony in Salem’s Vernon L. Wiscarson Young Musicians’ Competition and students of the 2011 Oregon Symphony in Salem Music Educator of the Year, Carol Stenson, from South Salem High School. Membership dues are $50 for individuals and $90 for couples. Members have access to all musicales and help support the Music Educator of the Year award given to a Salem-Keizer music educator.
